The history of the Grand Hotel Zvon, which now consists of three historical buildings, stretches back to 16. Century, exactly to the year 1533. There was a first mention of the Hotel Zvon in a local chronicle. From the original building that was situated on the place of the hotel nothing much may be observed due to progressive reconstructions over the years.
The Grand Hotel Zvon is a cultural and historical monument and its standing may be shown for example by the restored frescos in the main hotel passage and hand cut ceiling from the 17th century. The hotel offers 70 rooms and several restaurants where thousands of people from all over the world come to visit every year. The prestigious 4 Star Grand Hotel Zvon is to be found in the main square of České Budějovice. From this central position, guests have everything to hand such as historical monuments, theatres, cinemas, galleries with shops and shopping centres.
The whole area has been thoroughly reconstructed over the last few years, and in 1991 the hotel was extended by acquiring the neighbouring town house. In 1993 the accommodation part of the house has been reconstructed. Some of the rooms have now a direct view onto the Square of Premysl Otakar II.
In the 90’s, there was also a huge expansion of the tourists from abroad in the hotel. Also, our well known political, cultural and sport personalities were and still are enjoying the welcoming facilities of the Grand Hotel Zvon
